2023 5A COLORADO STATE CHAMPIONS!
The George Washington
Speech and Debate program is proud to announce that Maryrose Kohan was named the 2023 NSDA Coach of the year! The 2023 National Team had the pleasure of watching Ms. Kohan, aka Koko, receive this honor on the National Stage at the tournament in Arizona this past June. She was chosen amongst tough competition by a panel of her peers and we believe they got the decision right! We encourage you to read more about why Koko is so deserving of this massive honor and just how much of an impact she has been to George Washington High School and the greater speech and debate community. |
Congratulations To George Washington Speech and Debate at the
2023 National Tournament!
This past summer GWSD had its 49th national appearance at the
National Speech and Debate Association's Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
We are proud to announce that GWSD placed
in the top 20 Debate teams overall at the tournament.
This achievement earned us the coveted title of " Debate School of Excellence" .
We had 25 competitors in the tournament and 20 of them advanced in at least one event over the course of the week.
A special congrats to:
Greta Batchelor, 10th speaker in the nation in Policy Debate
Ivan Levitt, 11th in the nation in Original Oratory
Will Ryan, 4 time National Qualifier
Lindsay Sieja, Top 60 in the nation in Informative Speaking
Greta Batchelor & Maddie Hosking, Tied for 26th in the nation in Policy Debate
Caroline Mabey & Flynn Good, Tied for 26th in the nation in Policy Debate
Adam Wang, Double-Octa finalist in World School Debate
