TRAVEL TOURNAMENTS

Attendance at all travel tournaments is at the discretion of the Coaches.

Traveling to any out-of-state tournament is by the coach's consent or invitation.
Freshmen are only allowed to travel to Cheyenne and the National Tournament if they qualify.
The exception to this rule is any freshman who chooses to participate in Policy Debate.
Novice Policy Debaters are allowed to travel their freshman year due to tournaments offering non-varsity options.

Travel Tournaments are not paid for by the school.
Need-based Scholarships are available for the following trips:
-The Glenbrooks Invite, Chicago, Illinois , November 21-24, 2025
-The Harvard Invite, Boston, Massachusetts, February 13th-17th, 2026
-The National Tournament, Richmond, Virginia, June 14th-20th, 2026
All other travel trips must be paid in full by the student.

No plane tickets will be purchased on your behalf without your deposit. Deposit and Final Payment Dates will be provided when the event is scheduled and are estimates. Travel information and details regarding costs and payment dates will be provided to the applicable students at a later date.

Travel tournaments typically range in cost from $200 to $ 1,300, depending on their length and location.
Detailed trip costs will be provided via email once arrangements are finalized.
NOTE: Tournament cost includes entry fees to the tournament, hotel expenses, any travel costs (such as plane tickets, bus rentals, and Uber fares), as well as the costs of the coaches attending the tournament.

Deposit and Final Payments WILL BE PAID THROUGH THE TEAM TeamSnap app.

2025-26 Tenative Travel Tournament Schedule

Please note that the decision and availability to travel as a Team are at the discretion of the coaching staff.
We reserve the right to cancel any future travel plans at any time if we feel it is not what is best for GWSD.

Every tournament is unique.  Often, what could be a great opportunity for Debate is not a good opportunity for Speech and vice versa. Please note the events invited to each tournament; events not listed will not be offered that trip.
