Parent Judging for the
2024-2025 Season
24-25 Season Parent Judge Training
Saturday October 26th 10-12:30am
Please volunteer to judge! The more judges we provide the faster the events move along. Judging is a great way to learn more about what your student does in Speech and Debate. When you judge, you make a huge contribution to the team!!
We ask that each each family participate in judging at 2 tournaments, in addition to judging at the Patriot Games which we host for the community in early January.
Speech and debate depends on volunteer judges who make the meets possible. With such a large team, GW is obligated to provide a number of judges for each meet. If every family judged for 3 meets during the season, we would easily meet our team’s obligations to provide judges commensurate with our participation. In addition, because judges’ pay can be donated to the team, our judges help to strengthen our financial position. On the other hand, when we don’t provide enough judges, our team is charged judging fees to offset the cost of hiring judges from the community.
Please Note: Judging times listed on the signup sheets are approximate. Some tournaments run more smoothly than others and we can only estimate the time shifts. We encourage you to bring reading/knitting/work/etc. to fill some of the down time you might experience between rounds.
Please include your NAME, EMAIL, and JUDGING PREFERENCES under the NOTES column.
Thank you in advance for providing this support to our team.
