In addition to providing general organizational support for the team, GWSPO organizes several fundraising activities throughout the year to finance our costs that DPS does not fund. These costs include (but are not limited too) stipends for assistant coaches, travel for coaches to out-of-state tournaments (the families of attendees generally fund their own student’s travel costs), travel scholarships, educational materials, occasional specialist coaches, and other items.
The GWSPO strongly encourages all team families to participate in fundraising activities and volunteering to help with the success of the team.

- Speech and Debate-a-bowl: We are excited to rally the Team for our main fundraiser. The Team will host a bowl-a-thon in order to raise funds for team expenses such as: busing, scripts, assistant coaches’ time and travel, etc. This is an exciting opportunity for our students as the new school year begins. This event is Student Led with little parent participation (other than supporting your student and helping them obtain sponsors (donors)). The event encourages team building and allows for the students to get to know students from other events. We will not have a set PF or Policy team, but instead will mix up the team participants and encourage a healthy competition for all. More information will come home with your students in the near future.
